“A girl should be two things: Savage and happy.”

(sorry, Chanel)

let’s all blush a little more.

Somewhere along the line, shame became a shadow that women can never seem to shake. We’re conditioned to apologize for everything we do. We say sorry for dressing up, dressing down, experiencing success, and not experiencing enough; for entering a room at an imperfect moment, asserting ourselves at work, and coming off as “abrasive.” We even make excuses for calling the shots on our own bodies — not even the clothes we put on them are immune. We battle to justify our own existence, and in our free time, we run the world. As women, how do we finally wrestle shame onto its back and force it to submit to us? How do we stop letting it dictate our actions and take back our power? On The Blush Exchange, I’ve challenged myself to be (terrifyingly) authentic in the hope that visitors come away empowered, entertained, and at peace with the unapologetic choices they make in their lives. In this society, women have been forced to make difficult decisions. We shouldn’t have to defend them.
