Olivia Rubin Is A Color Queen

For me, discovering Olivia Rubin was the happiest of accidents. During my last visit to London, I took special note of the city’s iconic department stores. Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s are fabulous, but there’s something about the charm of historic English stores that can’t be beaten. Naturally, I’ve since kept up with Selfridges and Harrods from afar. As I scrolled through Selfridges’ newest arrivals one morning, only an Olivia Rubin dress broke the mold. With bold colors, prints, and varying fabrics, breaking the mold is exactly what the storied UK designer is best at.

Her site is a joyful experience, especially if you’ve seen one too many floral prints this (and every) season. I came across the Plum Ombre Mini Dress just as Pride month rolled around in California, and I like to think it was meant to be.

I paired the dress with patent blush pumps from Marc Fisher and Gucci’s Marmont matelassé mini bag in dusty pink, which is just big enough to fit a phone, keys, and a few cards.

The dress’s matching pastel buttons are an obsession, while the ruffled cuffs at the end of the sleeves are the perfect romantic touch to an otherwise bold piece.
